Michael John Garcés previously wrote the short play A Parable, comissioned and produced by GPTC at the Livestock Exchange Building as part of Neighborhood Tapestries. He is the artistic director of Cornerstone Theatre Company, a community-engaged ensemble in Los Angeles. He has written several plays for Cornerstone, including Los Illegals, Consequence, and the upcoming Magic Fruit. He has also directed many productions at Cornerstone including, most recently, Urban Rez by Larissa FastHorse, as well as plays by Alison Carey, Juliette Carrillo and Lisa Loomer. Michael is a core member of the Living Word Project in San Francisco, where he has developed and directed several works by Marc Bamuthi Joseph including, most recently, /peh-LO-tah/ a futbol freedom suite which premiered at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts; and a company member of the Woolly Mammoth Theatre in Washington D.C. where he will be helming an upcoming production of The Arsonists by Max Frisch.
